The purpose of the Higher Certificate in Local Economic Development (LED) is to prepare students for a career in LED. This programme will develop theoretical knowledge and practical competency and skills on NQF 5 in LED to enable students in their working environment. It further prepares students who do not comply with the minimum statutory or institutional admission requirements to access Diploma and/or Degree studies, or students who want to explore various career path options relating to LED. At the end of the programme, students will be able to understand and apply basic LED principles, make decisions in the LED context, interpret relevant information, and effectively work with various role players in the LED profession.

The purpose of this MEd in Educational Management programme is to enable students to develop the professional skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for competent school leaders and managers. Students will develop intellectual, theoretical and disciplinary knowledge of and insight into theories, concepts, and practices in educational leadership and management. The programme is aimed at emerging and practising educational leaders/managers in schools or administrative positions, and it focuses on the professionalisation of educational leadership and management practice, building capacity in educational management research, and preparing students for further postgraduate research.
The purpose of the programme is to qualify health professionals who, upon completion, will be empowered to analyse, strategise, and offer solutions to environmental and occupational health threats and risks faced by sub-Saharan African countries, including South Africa. Outcomes include: (1) Contextualising public health within the region and relevant countries’ health systems, focusing on environmental and occupational health; (2) Conducting health risk assessments and managing these risks; (3) Developing relevant epidemiology and research methodologies for local and regional environmental and occupational health risks; (4) Understanding related health economies; (5) Unpacking environmental and occupational disasters locally and regionally as learning opportunities in primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention; (6) Taking strategic decisions within the context of environmental and occupational health domains.
The purpose of the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Simulation is to develop health profession educators skilled in integrating and applying clinical simulation theories and practices in teaching, learning, assessment, and research. The programme fosters problem-solving, critical and reflective thinking, and the ability to report on clinical simulation principles in ways that align with academic and disciplinary discourses, thereby preparing educators to effectively integrate simulation in their practices.
